Royal Hotel Shinokubo

The room felt like a fashion hotel, which made the bedroom and bathroom spacious enough to relax in. The front desk let me borrow an iron and offered amenities for multiple nights, so the basic hotel facilities were all there and comfortable. The bed was unusually good for a deep sleep. The elevator from outside to the front desk is missing, so carrying luggage up and down was a bit hard. Cleaning is done but age‑related grime is noticeable. The station is close but noisy, so late‑night street noise is loud.

- Toilet paper wasn’t refilled. - The shower was wobbly. - In a double room, there was only one desk and chair. - A lot of hair was around the bed’s light switch. - At a late hour, the man at the counter was smug and grinning, which was uncomfortable. Because of all this, the price didn’t feel justified at all.

The room was roomy. The room and bathroom were poorly maintained; the carpet was old and dirty. The bathroom taps and button weren’t cleaned properly. They didn’t provide water, not even a bottle.

Cheap and right next to Shin‑Ōkubo station, downstairs is Donki and the room isn’t small; backpackers who only care about price should stay here. You have to climb stairs to reach the hotel and the equipment is old and broken; the non‑smoking room still smelled bad, so I wouldn’t recommend it for people with luggage or allergies.
