“Not Great!!!”

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bathroom had been refurbished to a good standard. The sofa bed was too short for me and had obvious staining on the sides; the quilt was cold and thin, and there was a grubby decorative cushion on the bed. The walls and doors are paper‑thin, so you can hear every word from the room next door. The venue is on a roadside on an ‘A’ road, with regular cars passing all night, clearly audible through the window that didn’t close properly. There were also a weird human‑size scary clown and other horrible Halloween characters in direct line of sight from the room. I would rate this property barely 2 stars and it’s certainly not worth £80.00.

“Decent enough place and value for money”

The location is great, just about a 5‑minute bus ride into Durham city centre, and the bus stop is right outside. The man who checked us in was super friendly and welcoming. There’s a bar on site and a separate Indian restaurant; we didn’t use them, but they looked tidy. We paid £90 for the night, whereas other places nearby cost over £150, so it was a solid bargain for a cheap stay. The bed was a little hard, so I didn’t sleep well in the ensuite toilet, which was clean but fairly stinky – I’m not sure if the drains are the problem.

“Great place and value for money”

The owner and staff are very professional and friendly. There are people, parking is available, and you can store your luggage for a short period.

“If you want a cheap room within a ten minute drive of Durham, then this is a good option”

The room was fairly large and basic, but for the price it was fine for our stay. I didn’t think I disliked anything, yet when booking I used the dog‑travel filter which raised the nightly rate; after booking I called the hotel to confirm we could bring our dog and they told me I needed to pay an extra £10, which I paid on arrival, though I had already paid a higher premium during booking.

The place sits in a decent spot and the room was really big, with comfy beds; the bar was handy and the owner was very nice and helpful, even heating up our microwave meal for us.
