The only real advantage was the location. The room was somewhat clean, except for a plastic bag left on top of the lamp that I discovered only after turning it on and smelling burning. The wallpaper was thin enough to hear every word from the neighbour. I would not recommend it unless you’re desperate. It needs major upgrades, better customer service, and genuine care. Please do not reply that you have no record of my stay; that is a lie. I have proof, including the partial refund you issued and various communications. I also received a text from you on 3 September 2026 criticizing my review after the refund. When we first arrived, the gentleman who checked us in was friendly, but the reception room smelled like fish cooking, which was off-putting. He then handed us a key and told us that one of the keys was missing—a red flag for security. I drove to our room, opened the door, and found someone already inside; she was shocked as I was when I tried to open it. She was noisy until about 3 am, and the strange men knocking on her door made me suspect her business was dodgy. The room we were given was wrong and a downgrade from what we booked and paid for. I asked reception for the correct room, but they said it was already assigned to someone else, so I couldn’t get it. I was disappointed because the room we had was below standard. When I raised the issue with the gentleman, he said they would arrange a refund. I later went to Christchurch airport to find my booking “Cancelled” as a no‑show. I didn’t realize how much time and effort it would take to get that refund—emails, calls, and discussions with staff that never returned my calls. I couldn’t even call the motel from my cell, so I used my work phone and got through (it seems I may have been blocked). I spoke to the lady twice after many attempts; she gave me her cell number to send proof of booking and payment. I had to follow up again to show proof even after I had already done what she asked, and I sent screenshots of my messages to her.
