The food in the restaurant was delicious, with a focus on homemade dishes that really stood out.
The hotel's picturesque location and stunning architecture, but I must admit it's particularly well-suited for those visiting the nearby Hall for Cornwall.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our stay was nothing short of exceptional.

A large mullioned‑window lounge offers garden and hotel views, with a sofa and a fridge. The private bathroom serves the suite. The Executive Suite sleeps two guests.
“Would recommend for a wedding!”
We went for a wedding and the staff were extremely helpful, the setting was lovely, and parking was plenty, but the bar drinks were overpriced and felt unnecessary.
“A lovely hotel but overpriced”
I loved the decor of the hotel, my room, and bathroom. They provided free biscuits and water daily which was lovely. Overall, staff were friendly. The main issue I had was that my bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel the springs so it hurt my back. I would expect high quality hotel mattresses in a pricey hotel like the Alverton, so I might be a bit hesitant to stay again and risk poor sleep. The afternoon tea was a hit and a miss due to average taste overall. Breakfast was good, however I ordered pancakes and asked if I could have a different fruit instead of banana (due to an allergy) but I was served plain pancakes with syrup. Adding a few berries or a couple of cut up strawberries shouldn’t have been an issue. I was disappointed
“lovely hotel - ideal base for a Truro trip!”
The building is lovely with a terrace perfect for drinks, and the staff were very helpful. The food was good.
The room was great, but the breakfast service was a bit slow.
“Overall good experience, but would eat elsewhere for dinner”
The hotel looks very attractive with impressive architecture, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room, number 12, stayed quiet even while wedding dancing and partying went on elsewhere in the hotel. Breakfasts were very good, offering both continental and hot food options. Car parking is available on-site, though it can get busy or packed. We dined there on the first night and found the dinner bland, mediocre, under‑seasoned, and expensive—£89 for my wife and I for two courses each plus one alcoholic and one non‑alcoholic cocktail. The service was also super slow; we waited about 75 minutes for our main courses, possibly because a wedding had taken place earlier that day. I’d recommend taking the breakfasts here but eating elsewhere for lunch or dinner, especially if you’re on a budget. Room 12 is near the boiler, so it was quite warm; the hotel can’t do much about that, but you might want to book a different room if you prefer a cooler place to sleep.
