La Piazza Hotel sits in Porto Rafael’s main square, overlooking the Maddalena Archipelago. Its courtyard hosts a fish restaurant, while rooms feature hand‑crafted furnishings, air conditioning, free WiFi, flat‑screen TVs, minibars, and sea or town views with balconies. The beach is steps away, Palau centre 10 minutes by car, and boat links to La Maddalena, Corsica, and Italy.

The location and the small size of the square were nice; the staff were very available, loungers were provided on the tiny beach, and there’s a restaurant and bar nearby, which is convenient. The bathroom was a bit Spartan: the toilet was in the bathroom and the shower had weak water pressure. Breakfast was a bit light.

The location was ideal. The room could be a bit bigger.

The breakfast was excellent, but our room felt cramped and the shower was tiny, which was a bit uncomfortable for my petite frame.

De prachtige locatie. De prijs, was niet in verhouding met de kwaliteit. Eigenlijk een restaurant met daarboven 6 kamers. Kamers leuk maar wel aan een opfrisbeurt toe, voor die prijs mag het wel wat luxer. Hotel moeilijk toegankelijk voor mensen die wat slechter te been zijn (steil en oneffen pad naar beneden). Restaurant prachtig maar prijzig, €230,- afgerekend voor 2 personen. Hotel ligt in Porto Rafael, 2 km van Palau, auto is wel aan te raden want laatste bus gaat om 18.40uur

The setting was great, but the air conditioning broke on the first night and staff did nothing until we complained after a second sleepless night. The manager eventually bought a portable unit that worked on the third night but was very noisy. We managed to get two meals at the restaurant paid for as compensation. Communication was the biggest problem; without our fuss, nothing would have been fixed. They kept renting out rooms without telling new guests about the AC issue.
