The Unicorn sits right on Main Street in Llanidloes, making all amenities easy to reach, and was especially convenient for us since we were visiting a friend along the road. Proprietor Michael is extremely helpful and friendly, and nothing feels like a bother; there’s also a resident cat and dog, both lovely. My mum, who has walking difficulties, found the stairs a bit hard but we managed; there’s no dedicated parking for the Unicorn, but I parked very close to the hotel without issue, though it might be tougher in summer.

The hotel has basic facilities, very friendly staff who meet guests’ wishes; the atmosphere reflects real life in Wales. No restrictions.

The owners were fantastic, but the dog and a cat were even better! I’d love to stay longer.

Friendly welcoming owner, the room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast wasn’t included but the owner did offer to make us some, unfortunately we had to leave early so he showed us where the cereal and fruit was and said “help yourself”. Nothing not to like really
