I stayed at a place that really highlighted a private coral reef, but the whole setup felt like a German all‑inclusive holiday spot, with German as the main language. Half‑board guests were forced to pay ridiculous prices for drinks, and every price was quoted in euros before the staff converted it to EPD using a constantly changing rate.

The combo bungalow, private beach, restaurant, and dive school were all right next door, which was great. The lodge used to be packed with water‑sports enthusiasts and was still called Shams Lodge Watersports, but now it’s mostly booked by older couples. They start laying out their towels on the private beach chairs at 04:00 and sit for half an hour before the restaurant opens to snag the best spots, so we had to eat inside because the outside was full. I’ve been coming for six years and it’s never been this bad before.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were spacious, clean, and fully equipped. The pool was polished daily and spotless, and there were four big slides, lifeguards, and a nice, extensive kiddie pool. The slides ran from 10 am until sunset, closing in the afternoon. Plenty of beach chairs and sunbeds were available, and the towels were refreshed between 17 and 18 on the beach if you left them on the chairs. A variety of activities were organized for guests, and the billiard tables were in good shape. The resort sits right on the sea with a private beach, well‑maintained grounds, and beautiful landscaping. The snorkeling spots were nice, some marked with pink flags. The restaurant offered a varied buffet with themed nights, and a la carte options too; it was clean and we preferred the lodge’s restaurant over the partner hotels’ eateries because the food was a bit more refined and the view of the sea was stunning. Everything was within walking distance, and the dive and surf club was on the edge of the resort. We didn’t get much information at check‑in about the grounds, facilities, opening hours, or dining options. The pool liner was loose in some spots but still clean, and the mattresses were quite hard.
