I’ve traveled worldwide and stayed in hundreds of hotels, houses, hostels, and rooms, yet I’ve never met such simple, open, hospitable hosts; it felt like arriving at grandparents’ home after a long time. Thanks to Saratu and Anume from Hikkaduwa. Choose a room with a balcony, the bed is very soft and comfortable. I’ll definitely come back. It would be great if an air‑conditioner were installed 😅

The interior space is huge – kitchen plus a breakfast terrace. It’s very close to the train and bus stations, yet only a few hundred meters from beaches full of turtles. The owners were very helpful, offering to pick fish at the market and then cook it for us. The friendly atmosphere and unforgettable vibe made it one of the best spots during our month‑long stay in Sri Lanka.

The couple running this place is the best – helpful, lovely, exceptionally warm and loving. I’d recommend anyone to use this as their base in Hikkaduwa. Nothing else; it was amazing and great for the money.

The house is a comfy place to stay, though it isn’t new. The room was spotless when we arrived. The place is also conveniently close to many amenities. Just about five minutes to the beach, and there are small spots for cheap but good food. Bigger places like the Refresh Beach Restaurant and well‑known spots such as Perera & Sons bakery and Pizza Hut are nearby, as are banks, ATMs, and supermarkets. The bus and train stations are a very short walk away. For scuba divers, the place is only a five‑minute walk from Poseidon Dive Center, a well‑established dive centre. Sarathchandra is very welcoming and accommodating; we had great chats with him during our short stay. He’s very informative about local eateries and sights. His wife and son are also warm and friendly. For the price, this is a great spot for budget travellers near many eateries and facilities. Nothing major to complain about.
