“Great ryokan with hot spring and friendly staff”

I had my first ryokan experience in Japan here and it was flawless! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, guiding me around and giving me all the necessary instructions. My room was spacious and bright, and both breakfast and dinner served delicious traditional Japanese food. The highlight was definitely the hot spring, especially the outdoor onsen. Thanks a lot for the hospitality—I’ll come back someday! Everything was great.

“楽しかった”

Built in the Meiji era, this ryokan follows the traditional shukiya style, so the floors feel soft. That charm attracted many foreign guests, especially from Europe and America, who stayed in a very Japanese manner. The outdoor bath was impressive. During check‑in the staff explained the inn, apparently using their phone’s translation feature in a language other than English, which was striking. The current staff are very good, and the fact that all rooms had room service was a plus. The room service was fine, but I would have liked a lower chair to sit in seiza, which would have been luxurious. It was a real luxury, though…

“Good authentic experience, but the food was disappointing”

Overall, it was a pretty good authentic Japanese experience. The outdoor onsen was really good, and I enjoyed the sea view from my room. The employees were nice and always ready to help. I really didn’t like the food; most of it was just tasteless, which was a disappointment because I was eager to try great authentic dishes. In general, it wasn’t the best value for money.

“The best Ryokan imo”

I stayed in the room with a private bath, and this is my second visit to Yokikan. Kaiseki is great as always, everything is clean and decent. The atmosphere is amazing, and I’ll definitely visit again next year. The ryokan is definitely old and that shows, but for me that’s part of the charm and I like it the way it is.

The room is huge. The meals are very good and served in the rooms. The bath has a city view and is accessed via a funicular. Nothing negative.
