Located on its own island, the San Clemente Palace Venice boasts a secluded setting with breathtaking lagoon views. This luxurious hotel features three bars, three gourmet restaurants, a spa, and elegantly decorated rooms with Italian marble bathrooms and LCD flat-screen TVs. Guests can unwind by the pool, tennis court, or fitness area, and enjoy a complimentary shuttle boat to St. Mark's square.

The property is huge, generous, and well kept, and the massive park makes it a unique retreat from the crowded city. Unfortunately, the kitchen in the bar and outdoor area is underwhelming, so dishes had to be returned several times; the staff are only partially up to the hotel’s standards, and many are not up to par in guest service.

The island felt like a peaceful escape from busy Venice, and getting to St. Mark’s Square was a breeze; the rooms and whole property were gorgeous. The lunch menu was pricey, the tea and coffee service at breakfast felt a bit haphazard, and they were slow to clear empty glasses and towels around the pool after guests left.

A great choice overall. Even though the boat to St. Mark’s Square takes 10 minutes, the hotel runs a 30‑minute schedule that’s punctual and ends late, so there were no issues. The real benefit was that staying here was far more comfortable than a cramped room on the main island. The hotel also has a pool, a lovely garden, and plenty of activities. The only downside is that the breakfast menu didn’t change over the five days and the restaurant’s offerings were somewhat limited. The breakfast itself was decent, but the dishes stayed the same for all five nights, and the restaurant’s food and flavors were not ideal.

The grounds and location are extraordinary, breathtaking at every turn. Frankly, there was nothing negative.
