“Good for visiting the area.”
The evening meal was very good and popular with locals; breakfast was also nice, featuring a full English, cereal, and toast. The room was fine but was on the top floor and accessed via narrow stairs.

The rooms were comfortable, warm, quiet, and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent, included in the price, freshly cooked, and hot. The pub/restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, and the whole building was well maintained and presented nicely. The location was excellent for visiting Hardwick Hall and Sherwood Forest, and the hotel was a minute’s walk from Bolsover Castle. The only drawback was that the parking wasn’t secure, though there were no issues and other guests were parked in the same spot.

Dinner and breakfast were very good, but there was only one chair in the double room.

The pub in the village centre welcomed us warmly, and the fish and chips we ate there were among the best I've had in a long while, paired with a solid beer and wine selection. Breakfast the next morning was tasty, made with good ingredients. Our attic room had sloping ceilings that made for a few head bumps, but the exposed beams and quirky vibe were charming, and it came stocked with a hair dryer, water bottle, kettle, and everything else we needed. The only drawback was parking: the pub’s spots were scarce, so we parked behind a disused building nearby, which was quiet and safe.

The location was convenient for reaching the town centre and just a stone’s throw from the castle gate. The food was spectacular, and the room was cozy, spotless, and offered free Wi‑Fi plus biscuits with free tea and coffee—something you rarely find these days. I didn’t encounter any negatives personally, but potential guests should know that while there’s plenty of free overnight parking around, none is on site, and the stairs to the top‑floor rooms are steep; that’s worth keeping in mind if you’re not a fan of stairs.
