“Very disappointing”
The park was nicely maintained and the heating kept us warm. I can’t think of any other positives. We needed more kitchen utensils: egg cups, glasses, and we only had three forks and spoons for four people, plus a jug, a dish for washing, and a colander. Several light bulbs and seven spotlights were out, and cobwebs were everywhere. The grill pan came from another oven and was too small. The lounge had no lamps, just a big light with missing bulbs. The sofa bed, though not listed as a bed, was broken when we opened it; the second bedroom was only suitable for children. We left after the second of the four nights we had booked and felt we deserved a refund.
The location and site were perfect. Stephanie communicated well and sorted everything for us. The hot tub lid was broken and half full; the housekeeper came at 3:30 pm on Sunday to fill it with a hose. The heater in the front room was poor and the room stayed cold. There was no small lamp in the front room, no sponges for washing dishes, no foil, and not enough bin bags. The gas bottles were empty from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, so there was no heating or hot water until they were replaced. Maintenance was needed outside, around the hot tub area and steps were rusty. The patio door to the hot tub area wouldn’t open with the key. General tidy‑up was required and the bed was uncomfortable.
“Far better accommodation in Northumberland for the money.”
The accommodation sits in a fantastic spot for exploring Northumberland, on a quiet caravan park with woodland walks nearby. The beds are comfortable and the space is very large. Unfortunately, the property doesn’t match the photos and looks tired inside, which is disappointing. A simple fix would be to replace the light bulbs – there were more bulbs that didn’t work than that did during our stay. The welcome pack also needs updating, or the items listed should actually be provided; antibacterial cleaner and toilet roll were not supplied, so we brought our own. Cleaning standards were poor and felt rushed. We found empty tin‑foil rolls left in drawers, a fridge that hadn’t been cleaned and still had onion skins from previous guests, and a dirty blue beach towel left on a radiator in one of the bedrooms. Cobwebs were on some light fittings, and the hot tub was flashing, indicating it was several days overdue for cleaning. The bath didn’t get hot enough; it’s unclear if there’s a temperature restriction, so we had to boil a few kettles to top it up (the shower and kitchen sink water temperature was fine). For the price paid, there are far better options in this area. It’s a real shame because the location is excellent, but due to these issues I wouldn’t return or recommend this accommodation. I would, however, consider staying at other properties on the park owned and run by different owners.
“Disappointing to say the least . Would not reccomend the lodge needs a full refurbishment to be able to charge what we p”
The location next to the woods was nice. The hot tub was almost empty when we arrived; the owner told us to fill it ourselves, so it never reached a usable temperature. The next day the water level dropped again, which was very disappointing. There was no oven or dishes, so we couldn’t cook our Christmas meat. The toilet in the main bathroom didn’t flush properly, so we had to keep filling the cistern with water. The kitchen cupboard door was coming off.
“We will trturn”
Getting there and parking was easy, and the place was very clean with good facilities. The host was very accessible and helped with everything we needed. We stayed an extra night because we enjoyed it so much and will return. Batteries were missing in the TV remote, and some light bulbs should have been checked.
