“The most unique and fantastic way to experience Uros floating islands”
This place is truly special and an amazing experience. The lodge is beautifully appointed. Food is excellent and the host is the friendliest and most helpful. We wanted to experience Lake Titicaca at the start of our honeymoon before trekking the Inca Trail from Cusco, and this delivered more than we expected. Uros Killa Lodge is literally on the lake, part of the Uros floating islands. We stayed two nights and one day, which was perfect for relaxing and acclimatising before heading back to Cusco. The lodge feels like glamping in style, with a king‑size bed, extra‑thick duvet, and blankets. Hot running water, a modern shower, and a flushing toilet. It gets very cold at night on the lake, dropping from 20 °C during the day to 0 °C at night, so mornings are chilly, but there’s a gas heater and the thick bedding keeps you warm. Iban is excellent; he arranged our taxi from the station and waited at the port to ferry us to the lodge. We had dinner on arrival, then booked a tour of the floating islands for $30 and lunch at the lodge for €15 each the next day. Both meals were delicious, as were dinner and breakfast. Iban shared loads of info about the islands and the Uros way of life—fascinating. We had to leave the island early, at 5 am, to catch the Inka Express bus in Puno; Iban ferried us on his boat with no hassle, even bringing the boat directly to our lodge’s deck! A truly memorable visit; if you want a different and special experience, we highly recommend it. The only issue is that the decking near the lodges lacks railings or banisters, so you need to walk carefully.
