“The stay was not the absolute worst, but it was definitely not the best.”

The front‑desk staff were very professional and the highlight of the stay, but the room smelled strong and unpleasant, had hair strands on the sheets and pillowcases as if they hadn’t been changed, had potato‑chip crumbs on the floor beside the bed, and the shower was not clean. I’m not usually one to complain, but this experience changed my view of Marriott entirely.

“Over priced, run-down, very dirty, short-staffed with poor attitudes.”

The hotel’s spot was close to campus, and the pillows were soft. But the place looked run‑down with dinged walls, peeling dining tables, moldy bathrooms, holes in the hallway wall, and rickety elevator rails. Staff were short‑handed—there was no one to run the restaurant or bar, no one refilling coffee machines, and broken equipment stayed unfixed. Rooms were filthy, with hairballs in corners, toenail clippings in the carpet, and random objects like bobby‑pins appearing after housekeeping left. On top of that, St. Louis West wouldn’t honor my Bonvoy membership or address any of our complaints because the booking wasn’t made directly.

The outdoor pool was nice, but the bathroom was located inside the fitness center.
