The hosts were friendly, the place very clean, and it offered great value. The bedroom was small, but we made it work.

From the moment we arrived on Friday 20th August 2026, Brian greeted us at the door, made us feel so welcome, and his wife Mandy was there too. He offered us a drink before asking if we wanted him to take our bags to our room. I booked a small double room, which was the perfect size for the two of us. Once inside, he explained that robes were on the back of the door for the shower, the room was bright, fresh, and immaculately clean, and the tea & coffee facilities were a lovely surprise. When I asked if there was anywhere I could store my medication in a fridge, Brian immediately said he would bring a little cooler for me. He handed us the keys and explained that our shower was in another room just opposite ours, which was perfect for our short stay. He told us breakfast was available between 7 am and 9 am and asked if we wanted to pick a time so his wife could be ready for us. As this was our first time at Shirley Heights Hotel we asked about local activities; Brian invited us to the local social club on Friday, a short walk from our stay, which I would definitely recommend. My partner and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, entertainment, and cheap drinks. The room was at the front of the building; we expected some noise, but there was none and we both slept well, which is a first for us! The bed was so comfortable we nearly slept in for breakfast. All I can say about the food was AMAZING! Everything you could think of was available; the dining room was warm and welcoming, the other guests were polite, which was really nice. We had a cooked breakfast with toast, a pot of tea, fresh orange, plenty of cereals, fruit, and Greek yoghurt set out for everyone to access. No faults.

Friendly stand a welcome supper always a must after a three hours drive. No art all to complain about great service and a hearty breakfast
