It can be hard to book a ski destination from afar, but we were very happy with our choice. Access is simple from Tokyo (a train, a bus); the hotel sits right next to the slopes, at the top of the lift (about 20 m), and the rental shop is also 20 m away (we rented skis, boots, pants, jackets and helmets). The hotel sells the pass directly with a small discount, so no need to stress about buying it in advance. The hotel itself isn’t new but is very comfortable and everything is arranged to make the trip easy and practical (e.g. a free washing machine with detergent pods, a heated ski room with hangers to dry clothes, etc). Our room was very spacious, the beds were comfortable, the shower was recent and pleasant. The couple running the hotel were absolutely adorable and added to the family‑like vibe of the stay. Breakfast in the morning was very good, as was dinner. When we left, the host even offered to drop us off in a car, very kind! Regarding the ski area, we found it magnificent with lots of trees, mogul runs, a small snowpark. However, it is really much smaller than European resorts; it’s fine for two days of skiing but we wouldn’t stay there all week.
