Singila Ocean Lodge

The beach itself is lovely and the staff are friendly. However, the property looks run‑down and poorly maintained. Nothing was open in the building during our stay, hot water had no pressure, the mosquito nets had holes, and the chalets are so open that mosquitoes were everywhere. The beach deck was broken and falling apart.

“Please improve the cleanliness on your room and fix what’s not working”

The location is unbeatable. I’m not impressed with the hospitality – the stove was broken, the floor was dusty, the toilet in room 6 was leaking, and there were too many ants in the rooms.

Not bad for the price, but you get what you pay for. It’s close to the beach. The toilet didn’t work; it was “fixed” a few hours after we arrived, which caused the cistern to overflow and flood the entire unit. In the morning there was no water, so we couldn’t shower or use the toilet.

“Had a good time”

The staff kept checking in to see if we needed anything, and when we mentioned the kitchen light was broken, they fixed it the next morning. The air conditioning could have been better, and the stairway to the beach needs some maintenance.

The individual houses were great, the manager and staff were excellent, and it was a unique place to stay. However, it was too far from Tofo beach, making the taxi ride expensive both ways. There was no shampoo or conditioner, and a huge sand dune blocked the ocean view from the houses—only a sliver could be seen from the second‑floor balcony. Construction next to the property was noisy, and the restaurant and bar stayed closed the whole time, forcing us to eat in Tofo.
