“Un paradiso mancato…”
The resort’s tropical garden is beautifully kept and hearing nature there is a real treat, but our three‑night stay at Monoceros Resort fell short of the glowing reviews that had convinced us to book two rooms blindfolded; the place needs a refresh, our room reeked of damp and mould—something we didn’t encounter at similar Thai hotels—even the restaurant offered very little choice and shut its doors at 8 pm, leaving little to do afterwards, and the whole complex closed, making a trip into town tricky without a car since Bolt drivers often cancel and you have to wrestle a heavy gate open yourself. One night around 22:00 we accidentally left the key inside our room and couldn’t get the door open; we roamed around, woke an elderly lady in a neighboring room who didn’t speak English, and eventually used the other room’s key, which meant one key opened multiple rooms—definitely not right. I mentioned that the AC in our daughter’s room was weak, the sheets were stained, huge black ants were crawling in our room, and the phone didn’t work; the sheets were swapped but the other issues lingered to the end. As for breakfast, we expected a buffet‑style spread but only got one or two items, with jam served in plastic tubs in a single flavor.
