“Wonderful accommodation in a darling village surrounded by beauty and ancient art and history”
The accommodation was a spacious, nicely appointed room with a modern, well‑designed bathroom in a historic building overlooking the quaint Place du Arms, surrounded by historic buildings and eateries along the river. Free parking was at the plaza’s center, and a couple of minutes’ walk along the river offered more free spots. Although we never met the owners, Diane and Emmanuel were very communicative and responsive; check‑in by code was easy. A large, well‑equipped kitchen‑diner was shared by three suites, featuring a big fridge and pantry, making breakfast a pleasure with a selection of teas and tasty cookies. Ground‑floor laundry facilities were available, and Emmanuel explained the usage over the phone. We walked to Lascaux IV! The village, flanked by the Vezere river, was beautiful and walkable, with many restaurants, a great bakery, a supermarket, a tourist office, and a lovely souvenir shop. Interesting architecture abounded, and we enjoyed dining along the river. The area is full of beautiful countryside and many caves that showcase early artistic endeavors from 15–25,000 years ago. Everything was wonderful, and I could imagine staying there for long spells.
