Shangrilà isn’t just a place to sleep; it’s a hug that welcomes you, a community that tells its story through the smiles of those who choose to live here with authenticity, spontaneity, and kindness. Mauna’s project is far more than an ecovillage; it’s a subtle invitation to question habits and certainties with gentleness, openness, and respect. The common areas are bright and colorful, full of life; all around the countryside, essential and sincere, seems to guard silence and time. There’s room for everyone, from the kittens that come each morning to greet you, to the weary traveler after a long journey, to anyone who wants to stay and chat. The rooms, the kitchen, and shared bathrooms have everything you need to feel at home: simple yet attentive care, fresh water waiting in the fridge, a revitalizing shower after a sunny day. That morning we tasted a delicious vegan carrot cake, and once again we realized that the real value of Shangrilà lies in the people. Mauna and the other residents always find time to pause, listen, share a word, a thought, a piece of their daily life. Perhaps that is the rarest gift in a world that runs relentlessly. At Shangrilà, time shifts rhythm. The days return to nature’s pace, and everything seems to lead you back to a simple question: are we really okay? Maybe the answer is hidden right here, among the earth, the wind, slow conversations, and the feeling of being exactly in the right place. As Mauna says: this is paradise.

It’s tucked into the Iblee hills, just minutes from the famous Donnafugata castle, local trattorias, and necessary services. In full contact with nature, you can enjoy calm, a breathtaking view of the entire coast, and an unmissable sunset. The host’s friendliness and availability are unique. The road to get there is a bit rough, but that’s the only drawback to reaching this paradise.
