The staff are super friendly and relaxed
The pool's great too, and it's not too far to a beautiful white sand beach.
The sea views are simply stunning (even if there isn't a beach right on the doorstep)
This place is a diver's paradise, with world-class diving at Sombrero Island just a short trip away

“Fantastic - wish every dive resort could be like this!”
This was my second trip in 3 months! Perfect for divers especially those doing underwater photography. Since my last trip they have renovated their (of course air conditioned) camera room. You will be assigned an individual camera station to keep and prepare camera gear which will be yours for the whole stay. Each station has power sockets for chargers, shelves, drawers, and now has each station has a compressed air blower (to remove water and dry your housing etc.) They even put a sign with your name on your station!
“Exceptional stay with outstanding diving”
We had a fantastic stay at this resort and can highly recommend it. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive, and went out of their way to accommodate every request. Our room was spacious, beautifully equipped, and very comfortable, especially the bed. The bathroom was a highlight as well, with a huge bathtub and a walk-in shower. We spent six days diving with dive master Jimmy, who was excellent. He planned each dive meticulously to give us a perfect mix of macro and coral reef sites. Safety was clearly his top priority: dives were arranged to avoid swimming against currents, and we always spent extra time at shallower depths even before the safety stop to ensure proper off-gassing. He’s also an outstanding spotter, showing us an incredible variety of marine life we would never have found ourselves. The boat crew were equally impressive. Everything was taken care of from start to finish. We never had to carry our gear, and all equipment was cleaned daily. A real highlight was the opportunity to go blackwater diving. All in all, this is a true gem of a resort, just about two hours by car from Manila, perfect for relaxing while exploring some of the most beautiful dive sites
“Super séjour plongée avec un bateau pour nous seuls. Guide très performant.”
A stunning sea‑view room, decent breakfast and meals.
The dive centre was terrific.
“TLDR: Fun divers, stay away. Dive centre was grossly mismanaged and non-functional!”
The restaurant was the main positive part of my stay. The full board was good value, with simple but satisfying meals, and dinner, especially the American BBQ night, was enjoyable. The restaurant manager also deserves mention: he was helpful, pleasant, and made that part of the resort feel genuinely welcoming. That said, I came to Casa Escondida primarily as a dive resort, so the restaurant does not offset my concerns about the diving operation. For context, I take around 4–6 dive trips a year, mostly land-based with resorts. This was also not my first time in Anilao, so I am aware of the setup for boat charters. What I experienced here was not a “local system” or misunderstanding. It was gross mismanagement and a failure of basic dive centre operations. Before arrival, I repeatedly told the resort I wanted to dive from 24–26 April. Their replies were vague, non-committal, and essentially useless, such as “we can arrange once you arrived” and that they would “let me know tomorrow if there is a group I can join.” There was no proper reservation process, and no meaningful attempt to help me plan my dives. After arrival, I checked again with reception, but they still could not provide clear guidance. I assumed there might be a disconnect between reception and the dive centre, so I went there directly after check-in. Unfortunately, the dive centre was even worse. No one seemed interested in speaking to me, helping me, or taking any responsibility. I saw a night dive listed on the schedule with two people and asked if I could join. I was redirected to Dennis, who appeared connected to the dive operation, but instead of speaking to me directly, he walked off and left the admin staff to deal with me. She seemed unable to give a clear answer and had to keep checking with him. Even then, no clear answer, option, or useful guidance was provided. In the end, out of the three days I had planned for diving, I only managed to dive on the first day because an external group, unaffiliated with the resort, was willing to let me tag along with their refresher course. On the second day, absolutely nothing was arranged for me. By the third day, I had given up entirely and went next door to Blue Ribbon instead, a reliable dive centre I have known since 2013. Overall, I felt less like a paying dive guest and more like someone begging for a favour. The lack of communication, ownership, and organisation was appalling
