“Lovely traditional building in great location but lacking management to match.”
The old traditional architecture was a highlight—design, look, fittings, and overall feel were wonderful, which is why I chose this hotel. The location on the promenade is nice, though it doesn’t face the water. Managerial honesty was completely absent and unapologetic. The owner deliberately double‑booked my room on the first night of my 5‑night stay, even though I had booked back in January, apparently to secure both bookings. Madam Jane, the lady in charge, concocted an elaborate lie instead of telling me the truth, giving me the impression that the issue could be resolved when it never could, resulting in three hours of wasted time. I mentioned the situation to a neighboring hotel, and they said it was a simple double‑booking that had happened before. In the end, the owner tried to present himself as the brother of the owner, then accidentally revealed his identity (more lies!), offered the night for free but gave no apology because “what happened has happened.”
“Very good”
This hotel is a beautifully converted old house that has kept its historic character, including its traditional roof design, which brought back fond childhood memories and gave the place a unique nostalgic charm. The electricity main supply was cut off, forcing us to spend a night without power.
“Perfect location, beautiful rooms.”
The staff was attentive and kind. Perfect location
“Agréable hôtel”
Le service était excellent et l’endroit confortable, sans trop de luxe. Jane, la gérante, était toujours disponible pour nous aider. Nous avons passé un super séjour.
“Perfect stay in Lamu”
The location was perfect, the staff were great, and everyone made sure we had a lovely time and felt safe. The staff even surprised me for my birthday. I loved it. The owners were also very responsive whenever we had any issues.
