“Good for a cheap getaway but other hotels would have been better”
The location is great with lots of restaurants nearby. The room felt a little outdated, the pool looked horrible, and when I arrived to check‑in on a Friday at 3 pm (the official check‑in time), I had to wait over 20 minutes to be seen by a gentleman. Housekeeping kept coming out to the lobby to check on me, and this gentleman kept telling everyone he had to go check his phone. When he finally entered the hotel he didn’t say hi, didn’t apologize, just asked for my ID and handed me the room keys. No acknowledgement for the 20‑minute wait.
I’ve stayed here three times, and I appreciate the location and the reasonable price, but the hotel clearly looks like it’s been neglected for years. The hallway carpets are covered in large, obvious stains, the furniture is extremely worn with peeling upholstery and damaged chairs, and a red armchair is dirty and heavily stained. The carpet around the refrigerator is torn with exposed subfloor, air vents are dust‑covered, and utility panels are dirty. Bathroom fixtures show visible grime and mineral buildup, and damaged door frames and trim add to the poor maintenance. The indoor pool, still advertised as an amenity, has apparently been closed since COVID and never reopened. While none of these issues alone would ruin a stay, together they give the impression that routine maintenance and deep cleaning have been postponed for a very long time. Having traveled extensively in Europe, I can honestly say a hotel in this condition would likely fail a basic quality inspection there. The property has good potential but urgently needs renovation and a commitment to proper upkeep. I hope management takes these concerns seriously because Wilmington deserves better accommodations. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend staying here.

The building itself is absolutely filthy and outdated. The elevator was broken, the pool was out of order with green water, and the room smelled of smoke and mold. There were stains on the carpet and on the blankets. The red chair in the room looked like it was pulled out of a dumpster and was so filthy. The worker who checked us in was rude when I asked to buy a water bottle at check‑in after a long flight; he told me I couldn’t and said, “this is not the Hilton.”
