The location sits right on the main road in Sethan, which is convenient but can get noisy; trekking from Hampta base camp to Sethan was pretty amazing. We were mistakenly flagged as a “no‑show” by the booking site even though we had paid in full and stayed the whole time, and we had to confirm this with them. The photos on the site were far more glamorous than reality—this was essentially a simple guesthouse with minimal decoration and non‑luxurious bedding. The bedsheets had tiny holes that needed replacing, and the bath towels shed fibers that stuck to you. Compared to other guesthouses in Himachal Pradesh, this was the most expensive (2600 rupees) for a place of this size and quality. Check‑in took about an hour even though we had informed the host of our arrival time; the staff couldn’t speak English, making it hard to request basic items like towels and mugs that should have been in the room. The first room’s bathroom had exposed wiring, a toilet that wouldn’t flush, and a broken seat—issues that should have been fixed beforehand. We eventually got a different room after some prep, but at that price we expected a smoother process. During our stay we also found a bolt from a broken door hinge on the outer door with netting that was loose and fell; the staff didn’t seem to notice due to the language barrier and left the bolt outside near the window. We left it as it was because the inner door could still be locked.
