Very beautiful accommodation. The door was broken.
“Good Camino back up”
We booked this last minute after another Camino accommodation fell through. A taxi brought us here, and for €43 the hotel felt luxurious compared to a dorm at a similar price. It was fine for one night and actually a good walk to Burgos—about 12 km, mostly the first couple of back roads through small farm plots to reach the Camino Santiago Frances river path. They tried to push the buffet breakfast, but we just ordered coffee, yoghurt, and tortilla, which still cost €7 (originally €10, but I negotiated it down because it was overinflated). There are no restaurants or other food options nearby; we had a pizza (cooked from frozen, very basic) and a drink. The receptionist was lovely.
The welcome, service, and cleanliness were all perfect. Nothing particular to note.
“Een hel, onveilig hotel”
The price was a plus. When I was lying in bed trying to sleep at 22:15, a man burst into my room! After I shouted him out, I heard him break into more rooms… Around 23:00 there was a lot of noise and shouting. A guest became completely angry and aggressive. I called the emergency number, it didn’t answer, and the doors that should lock at night were wide open. I didn’t feel safe. I told reception that a man had entered my room; they couldn’t do anything and didn’t know how this could happen. Three staff waved it off… as an excuse I received a free bottle of water. I couldn’t sleep all night. Every footstep I heard made me scared.
“Una noche insomne”
Cleanliness and location are positives. The problem was that I booked a room with air conditioning, but the AC didn’t work, there was only a ceiling fan, and from 10 pm there was no one to call because the room had no phone.
