The location was great, and the front desk stayed open from very early until 10 pm, which was convenient. The room was tidy, but the bunk beds didn’t come with blankets, so I had to put them on myself, which was a poor experience. The stove was slower than the electric heater and couldn’t even boil noodles, so I’d rather not have had it at all. The stove, oven, and similar appliances need an upgrade.

“unsatisfactory”

The hotel is close to the city centre. It was extremely hot, there were no fresh towels, the pillows had an unwashed smell, and I could hear noise from other guests.

“A great experience in a quiet peaceful surrounding and good value for money with courteous staffs”

I booked a three‑night stay and was pleasantly surprised when the hotel upgraded my room to one with a private bathroom instead of the shared one I had originally reserved. The property was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The toilet and bathroom were adequate for the price, with useful accessories. The surroundings were very peaceful, just as the name pinewood promised, and the quiet nature with birds chirping was perfect for solo travelers or nature lovers. The receptionist was friendly and courteous. This was my first hotel booking in New Zealand, and overall it was a great experience.

“For what we paid a good stay”

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was awesome- within walking distance. Room was adequate. Great parking space outside unit. Bed was uncomfortable and the noise from the unit above/beside was terrible. You turn the light on in the bathroom and the fan automatically runs for some time after which late at night is annoying. Besides from that the guests upstairs were very noisy
