The apartment was spacious and clean for the two of us and our two dogs, which were welcome; the small fenced garden was very handy, it sat away from traffic and city noise and served as a great base for exploring nearby villages like Anghiari, San Sepolcro and the trails left by Piero della Francesca, as well as Castiglion Fiorentino and Cortona, with forest walks in the Casentina woods, abundant green, good food, bars, restaurants and supermarkets (the latter even in Indicatore, a few kilometres from Pieve Maiano). There’s a church with modern mosaic floors and walls, and I also recommend the nearby monasteries of La Verna and Celle near Cortona and Lake Trasimeno, especially for the pleasant climate and deep contact with nature. The only drawback was the low number of tourists, which limited the potential to showcase our villages.
