The guesthouse sits in a great spot, far enough from the main road that street noise is minimal, and a short walk brings you straight into Hualien’s lively area. If you need a train‑station shuttle, just let the host know in advance and he’ll help arrange it. He also offered useful car‑rental tips and the rental shop can drop the car right at the property.

The accommodation was pretty, clean and tidy, but the price we saw online didn’t match what the front desk told us, and the staff’s tone was less than friendly. The host asked us to park elsewhere because our car was too big, and later that night the police called to say we were occupying private land and had to move the vehicle. That chain of events left a strange memory of the trip, though the older host was more polite and friendly. We might stay again, hoping this issue won’t recur.
