The staff were courteous and their smiles made us happy. It would have been better if they had explained the lock‑opening procedure all the way through.

The place felt clean and the facilities are new. If you picture a hotel or ryokan with lots of services while traveling, it may feel a bit lacking, but thinking of it as a business hotel with a slight upscale touch sets the right expectation.
The room was really comfortable and we stayed three nights, with staff swapping towels and taking out the trash each day; the front desk folks were friendly and answered our questions quickly. Because we drove ourselves the hotel’s parking was full, but the receptionist thoughtfully gave us details about nearby lots, so we managed to find a spot without trouble. The only downside was that the Kumamoto fav room mentioned a washing machine, yet only two machines were available in the public area, which felt a bit scarce.
