“Teleurgesteld, niet de kamer die men voorschotelt”
I booked a Holiday Deal for 5 nights with a Premium room overlooking the garden through Booking, but the payment failed at first and the price had risen by the time I re-entered the details, likely because Booking altered its pricing. When we arrived, we were assigned room 210 on the pool side, above the reception, with a view of a construction site, a side view of the sea, and an unpleasant smell from a blocked drain. We pointed out that this didn’t match our garden‑view reservation, yet the staff claimed we had been upgraded, even though we hadn’t requested it, and they never explained why the garden‑view room was unavailable. Unsatisfied, we were offered room 216, also pool side with pool and side sea views, which we accepted mainly because we feared the so‑called garden view was actually a parking view. Other reviews mention that top‑tier Suites can be damp and smell like a parking lot, so we discussed this with the manager, who said there are two Premium types: Garden Premium and Sea View Premium. She identified room 210 as Sea View Premium and room 216 as an upgrade, but that didn’t convince us. The Sea View Premium isn’t listed separately on Booking, and its photos differ entirely from the Garden Premium. The interior of our room looked identical to a cheaper Courtyard room without a sofa; the manager said there might be variations. Compare the photos of room 216 with a Courtyard room to see the similarity.
