Perched 180 m above Tegernsee Lake, Der Westerhof Hotel offers panoramic lake and mountain views, a garden, and rooms with private balconies or terraces. Interiors feature natural‑wood décor, satellite TV, and en‑suite bathrooms with hairdryers. Guests enjoy a terrace breakfast buffet, pre‑ordered Bavarian snack platters, drinks, trail access, ski slopes, parking, and a 5‑minute drive to the lake and train station.

I was warmly welcomed upon arrival, and everything was explained right away, including where to store my e‑bike. My single room was very nicely furnished, and the balcony view was spectacular. Overall I was quite satisfied with the service and the location, and I will gladly return.

Breakfast was excellent and the view was stunning; the staff were lovely and they gave free amenities each evening. The only downside was the steep walk up if you’re heading to a restaurant.

The breakfast was superb, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the lake view was amazing. Some parts of the hotel felt a bit dated, but that didn’t bother us; the internet only shows the renovated rooms, while we stayed in an older one that was still fine. The balcony offered a great view of the lake.

From the hotel you get a dreamlike view of Tegernsee and the mountains, but walking to the lake can be a bit of a hassle if you’re not a strong walker. The nearby restaurant was closed, so we had to drive for dinner. The hotel’s Brettl-Jause was tasty and plentiful, and breakfast was good. The room’s furnishings were decent, though a few extra pillows on the sofa would have made it cozier. The large bathroom was fantastic. The only negative was that our room wasn’t cleaned until the day before departure, and the towels were changed regularly.
