We were the only guests in a miserable guesthouse and, despite paying for breakfast, we never got it because the staff said “the lady has not arrived.” That’s why the welcome and communication were so poor.

Everything else was as expected for a guest house, but the breakfast was shocking – the staff couldn’t get anything right, from the eggs to the toast, and there were crumbs from jam jars left by previous guests.

The lounge area was fine, but the fridge was dysfunctional, the shower flooded, and it was totally unsuitable for handicapped guests. The driveway was long and overgrown, making reversing difficult, and there was a tree in the middle of the parking bays. We forgot to order supper, but the place closes at 17:00 before cocktail hour – ridiculous. The standard has dropped significantly over the past year.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel, with the breakfast being particularly impressive - it was made to my specifications and was absolutely delicious. The staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend.
