“Liked it - would do again”

The property is nice and comfortable, and the owners and staff make you feel at home. The location is excellent—on the way to Amer fort. The food was excellent and the owner himself cooked for us. The approach is difficult, especially during the holiday season; the staff and police help, but with so many cars it’s a pain. Arriving before 10 am or after 7 pm would be better if you’re planning to go during the holiday season.

House of Amer is run by a warm, lovely family and house staff who have been with them for more than 20 years. It’s extremely well located, just a 5‑minute walk to the back entrance of the Amber fort. On arrival we were greeted with a full welcome ritual from the mother and her brother, complete with flowers. In the evenings we enjoyed candle‑lit dinners on the rooftop; the second rooftop offers a spectacular view of the fort. The rooms are huge and the shower was amazing (just ask how to turn on the hot water). The son was our guide the next day—he was very friendly, patient, and knows Amer and its people well. (It took him 3 hours to visit the fort because we took so many pictures). We highly recommend this hotel for its perfect location to visit the fort, the stepwell, and the beautiful temple, all within a 15‑minute walk. We liked everything because they made us feel very welcome.

The place is well situated, a little out of the city centre near the Amber Fort, the Haveli is beautiful, everything was clean, check‑in was quick and smooth, and the owners were very kind and helpful, with nothing that we didn’t like.

“Wonderful getaway for the weekend”

The food was tasty, the ambience great, the property is within walking distance of all local sights, the surrounding view is magnificent, and I loved everything about it – everything was just perfect, thank you.

The hotel offered a free taxi right to the property, the décor was really attractive, and the water pressure in the shower was so strong it felt like it could knock you over. After more than twenty days in India, it was the first night I didn’t hear any horns at all, which made for a very quiet stay, and the optional breakfast let us order tasty dishes straight from Chef Lu’s kitchen. It’s only a ten‑minute walk to Amber Fort, and several other sights are within easy strolling distance, so we could pop back to the hotel whenever we wanted. On the downside, one staff member kept demanding a tip, the promised free visit to the elephant village never happened despite our asking, we had to lug our luggage 300 m up a one‑way hill road to catch transport, and the South‑African style power socket was huge, loose and incompatible with ordinary adapters, forcing us to ask for a converter that cost an extra 100 RS.
