“Ein interessantes Hotel in einem Kloster direkt neben der Klosterkirche”
The JUFA Hotel Stift Gurk sits in an old monastery in the former monks' living quarter; guests enjoy a nice view of the garden and courtyard, it’s very quiet at night, there are plenty of parking spaces (even for buses), the breakfast is excellent with everything provided, the room size is adequate with a seat and desk (see photos), there’s an elevator, the staff are very friendly, it was well heated in September when it got chilly at night, and at an altitude of 660m to 680m an air‑conditioner isn’t really needed; a tip is that guests receive a free Wörthersee Card with the Kärnten Card on a plastic card, allowing free visits to many places in Kärnten, and the Stift Gurk with its treasury and the shrine of St. Hemma is highly recommended; from the hotel you can go directly into the cloister church through a separate gate, and other sites like the famous Pyramidenkogel at Wörthersee or Stift Sankt Paul, the Kärnten treasury, are included (brochure at the reception); the restaurant was not tested. The hotel does have a hostel‑like vibe because of the monastery, but the prices are moderate, so if that’s not a problem you’ll be very happy here.
