Château de Maillat felt like an exceptional retreat, with rooms that were both beautiful and supremely comfortable. The newly refurbished bathroom blended historic charm with sleek modern finishes. The surrounding quietness and the park encircling the castle made it easy to unwind. The location was superb, with straightforward access from the highway and national roads.

The location was gorgeous, easily reachable, and you really felt like a castle lord—highly recommended. The breakfast was a bit plain and could have offered more variety.

The setting was astonishing, and you need a sensitivity to sacred texts to truly appreciate it. There was very little flexibility.

Breakfast was served right in the room, which was a great idea for a calm, peaceful wake‑up. However, the portions were quite limited and the selection lacked variety. The Booking ad didn’t clearly state that the wellness area was not freely accessible, but only available by reservation and for an extra fee. We had chosen this place expecting to use the wellness freely on Sunday to relax, only to discover that we had to book a paid slot and could only access it from 19 h to 21 h. Additionally, the facilities were quite sparse: a small heated pool with a few ripples, a basic sensory shower, and an infrared sauna that we found difficult to tolerate. That was a significant disappointment for us, as the wellness space had largely motivated our choice of this hotel.
