Perched atop Villeneuve‑les‑Avignon’s historic hill, Hôtel La Magnaneraie occupies a former cardinal’s mansion and offers 29 rooms plus three themed suites. Guests enjoy a garden maze framing views of the Abbey and Fort St André, a tapas bar serving charcuterie, cheese and gazpacho, a heated pool, bicycle rentals, on‑demand massages, and a five‑minute drive to Avignon.

It was charming; we could walk into the village for lunch or dinner, making it a fantastic home base for exploring Provence, and it was lovely.

A great hotel in a renovated old building, away from Avignon’s hustle and bustle in a lovely old village just 5 minutes by car into the old town, with nice facilities and helpful staff, though the grounds were lovely but needed a bit of a clean‑up.

The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of delicious options, but there was a power outage during our stay, which was eventually resolved.
