Located in Winchester, The Westgate is a short walk from Winchester Cathedral and Wolvesey Castle. This hotel features a bar, free WiFi, and flat-screen TVs in each room, which also include desks, snack baskets, and private bathrooms with free toiletries and hair dryers. Nearby attractions include the Winchester Christmas Market and Southampton Airport is 13 km away.

The room was gorgeous above a classic pub at Winchester’s doorstep, and the breakfast was excellent; we were very happy.

The spot was spot on, right in Westgate, the oldest standing place in Winchester, just a few minutes’ walk from High St, the museums and the cathedral. Breakfast turned out decent. Parking was a hassle – you had to pay an extra £18 a day at the nearest car park. The bathroom was cramped and the shower lacked power.

It was a genuinely lovely place; I adored the room’s size and style. The pub below was fantastic, with great food and a relaxed vibe in the evenings, and the room stayed quiet. Breakfast was served in the pub, was really good, and the cooked options looked appealing even though I chose the continental. I’ll definitely return.
