I love the rooftop bar and the overall vibe of the hotel; the history is fascinating. However, when I was on the 3rd floor, there was a very bad smell in the hallway.

The building is beautiful with lots of character, a great location, a spacious room, and the breakfast was good (thanks Nikki for making my day early in the morning). The staff and service, however, didn’t match the building’s character. Whether at dinner or the rooftop bar, they seemed unskilled, uninterested, and preoccupied with each other. If they invested the same effort into genuine interest and proactive service as they do into asking for reviews, things would improve. During my seven‑night stay I had to fetch coffee from reception four times because housekeeping didn’t restock supplies. The restaurant food is substandard and lacks passion. If you order a starter and a main, they serve them at the same time—why? The consistent lack of service shows a leadership problem. I voiced my dissatisfaction several times but saw no improvement.

We spent a lovely morning on the front porch, sipping a delicious breakfast, and later enjoyed the night view of downtown Augusta from the rooftop lounge—truly a beautiful reflection of our history that lets us slow down and savor the passage of time.

The hotel was just average—nothing special to write home about, and it wasn’t especially clean. The temperature in our room never really dropped, so it stayed warm all night.
