Located in the heart of Usingen, Hotel zur goldenen Sonne dates back to 1424 and features family-run charm. This 2016-renovated hotel offers 30-minute access to Frankfurt Trade Fair and combines rustic comfort with modern design in its bright, spacious rooms, some with bathtubs, carpeted or hypoallergenic vinyl floors, and free WiFi. A hearty breakfast buffet and nearby restaurants, cafes, and supermarket are available.

The house is clean and artistically interesting. The hotel is very central and consequently very noisy. The bed was narrow, the sink was in the room instead of the bathroom. During breakfast the plates were cleared away while we were still eating. My friends, who didn’t have a reservation, got a discount on the spot.

The place feels family‑friendly, welcoming, and you truly feel like a guest from the moment you arrive and depart. I only stayed for two nights, which is a drawback.

The hotel sits right in Usingen’s center, with sights, cafés, and restaurants within walking distance. It carries local tradition and has been fully and tastefully renovated. The staff are friendly and helpful, parking is ample, and I’d gladly return. The price is high for the excellent location, and traffic noise is an issue, though the windows are well sound‑proofed; during this summer’s heat I’d have liked to open them at night, but that would have made the room loud in the mornings and evenings. Still, complaints are at a very high level!
