The hotel is very central and the breakfast is great, but the decor and fittings look run‑down and need updating; the bathroom was dirty and some fittings were loose.

Our room sat directly above the bar and reception, so it was very loud at night and again in the morning because there is clearly no soundproofing between the room floor and the ground‑floor ceiling—just the noise.

Fabulous big room with a four-poster, rolltop bath and great view over the Market Hill. Noise from bar directly below. Shower in bath a bit awkward to use
