“Expectativas demasiado altas!!”

Breakfast was pleasant and the host was friendly. Clearly there was a communication breakdown between the booking platform and the accommodation because I mentioned in the reservation that I wanted a private bathroom in the suite, yet when I arrived the bathroom was a shared one in the corridor. The photos in my reservation did not indicate this point, which is crucial for me. The toilet is for children, not for adults; it makes no sense to be so low, and the shower has no pressure. For the price per night and considering the area we are in, the rooms should have air conditioning, not a fan that makes it impossible to sleep because of the noise. In the pool area there should have been sun umbrellas for those who need shade due to the high temperatures.

“A shockingly hostile, chaotic, and unacceptable stay that turned what should have been a relaxing getaway into an absolu”

The experience with the host was extremely hostile and stressful. I booked and paid in advance for a three‑bedroom house and called the main host, Sophie, three days before arrival specifically to confirm that we were a party of six. During that conversation, I was never told there was any issue with the number of guests. When we arrived, Sophie insisted that the reservation was for only one person and locked all of the bedrooms except one, even though the property was booked as a three‑bedroom house and my call had confirmed six guests three days earlier. We arrived expecting access to the house we had booked and paid for, only to find most of the bedrooms inaccessible. Because the property is extremely remote and rural, we were effectively stranded upon arrival. It felt like a hostage situation where my friends and I had little choice but to accept additional demands to check in, including providing a copy of my credit card. The host also tried to authorize an additional amount equal to 100% of the entire stay for incidentals, which I found excessive and unlike anything I have experienced with similar rentals. Her husband told us verbatim, “If you make any noise, I’ll throw you out.” This was an incredibly uncomfortable and threatening way to begin a stay. If Sophie had concerns about our reservation or did not want to accommodate six guests, she had every opportunity to tell me when we spoke three days earlier. Instead, everything was raised only after six people had already arrived at this isolated property. The house is extremely rural and isolated, and the surrounding terrain is not well developed. In my opinion, it is not suitable for young children, elderly guests, or anyone with mobility concerns. The pool was also extremely cold during our stay, to the point that we found it practically unusable.

“Uma experiência para repetir”

Overall everything was spectacular. The access path is quite rough, making it very uncomfortable, dangerous, and with a high possibility of damaging vehicles.

“Un paraíso”

We spent a few wonderful days at Monte das Casolas. The pool is unbeatable, surrounded by a wild atmosphere that feels like paradise. Our little dog was welcome to roam freely and enjoy the setting. We booked a room and found it very comfortable; the beds are very cozy and the room has everything you need for a few days. Sophie is a delight, helped with our questions, and was flexible with check‑in time because we arrived earlier than expected. It was a great experience and we hope to return soon. The only thing that could improve is adding an umbrella to the outdoor terrace area.
