The staff were friendly and the courtyard cats were adorable, yet the toilet left something to be desired.

The location is great, the staff friendly, the rooms authentically decorated, and the atmosphere pleasant. The only downside was the breakfast: although there were options, by 9 am the eggs were gone and no one brought them back for half an hour, the salads ran out and weren’t replenished, and the few people who were still eating weren’t helped because the staff did nothing.

The courtyard is gorgeous and the rooms feel very cozy and comfortable.

The hotel sits in a beautifully preserved old Madrasa, giving it a unique charm; the staff are very attentive and respectful, and the breakfasts, though not usually a highlight in Uzbek hotels for Westerners, were more than adequate, making it highly recommended. However, an extra shelf for hanging clothes would be a welcome addition.

It was by far the most atmospheric place on our trip to Uzbekistan; the courtyard feels timeless, perfect for lounging on cushions, listening to birds, and playing with kittens, while the rooms offer a level of comfort far beyond the 15th century, restored with care and taste—sad to leave.
