Kyomachiya Bettei Hanatei in Kyoto offers family rooms with private bathrooms, air-conditioning, and free WiFi. The ryokan features a hot spring bath, spa bath, and hot tub, surrounded by a garden and terrace. Located near Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall and Kyoto International Manga Museum, it provides private check-in, concierge service, and breakfast in-room, with paid off-site parking available.

There were plenty of amenities: washer, fridge, TV, stove, host, robot vacuum; the place was clean, spacious with a table, desk, and the option to eat on site. A small private onsen with water at 26 or 29 °C, futuristic and nice toilets, and a book on Kyoto gardens helped plan visits. The only downside was the lack of cutlery, the staff didn’t speak English but managed to communicate via translation tools, so little room for advice on buying real kimono, yukata, etc., or for tours. It’s a bit far from the old town.

The apartment’s interiors are set in a traditional Japanese style, with all modern conveniences like a bathroom, toilet, and good air conditioning – which was essential during our August stay. Guests can unwind in the onsen and meditate in the Karensensui‑style garden that’s part of the apartment, and yukatas are also available for use. The location is spot‑on, right in the heart of Kyoto’s historic district yet quiet, with no street noise, and bus stops and metro stations are nearby. The service deserves a shout‑out: polite, helpful, punctual, and responsive. If we ever return to Kyoto, we’ll definitely book here again. I recommend it to everyone. Nothing I didn’t like.

The ryokan’s vibe is authentic, and the staff’s welcome and assistance were very friendly. The dinner was excellent. The air conditioning on the floor was too hot, so we had to sleep downstairs.
