“Cuidado engañosa publicidad”
The first night’s room looked nice, but we were moved to a less attractive and pricier one, which felt like a trick. It’s far from the center, and not all rooms are appealing, and everything is charged at a high rate.
“Un hotel hermoso pero con una mala experiencia de reserva”
The hotel is very pretty, the rooms are cozy and warm, and there are extra blankets if you’re a cold‑blooded person; the lighting is pleasant for resting. I found the bed a bit firm, but my husband said it was fine, so maybe it’s just me. The owner’s daughter is very friendly and treats you well all the time. The location is good, central, on the way to the hot springs, and a car ride to the center takes 8 minutes; it’s also close to the lagoon if you’re there during the Day of the Dead festival. In front there’s a restaurant, so you can eat or grab a snack if you like. The total price for the room with breakfast on Booking, including taxes, was 999. On the day of my reservation, I was contacted via WhatsApp, which shouldn’t happen because Booking has its own chat; through that channel they told me my total was 1126, saying the extra 126 that didn’t show on Booking was a commission for the platform. That commission is for the hotel, not the guest. The person who messaged me said I could cancel on Booking and keep the 999, so I didn’t have to pay the 126 (which I shouldn’t have paid anyway). I then called Booking, and they said I could do that but a 50% penalty would apply because that was how the reservation was set up, and they wouldn’t be responsible for anything since the booking would no longer exist through them. When I arrived at the hotel, I explained the situation to the staff, who insisted I had to pay that commission because the original room price was 1300 and they didn’t want to give me the discount. I clearly disagreed. The issue isn’t paying the 126; I shouldn’t pay a commission that doesn’t belong to me, and if the owners don’t like the prices and commissions imposed by Booking, they shouldn’t offer them. My husband mentioned we were forced to stay because of Booking’s penalty, but we no longer felt comfortable with the treatment we received, so the lady got offended, acted haughty, and treated us as if we were rude, when clearly the scam was theirs. In the end, we had to stay because of the penalty but with a very bad taste during our stay. I’ve been booking through Booking for over six years, and this is the first time I’ve had a situation like this. I recommend booking directly with the hotel and not through Booking, because otherwise you’ll be charged the commission that Booking takes from them, which is wrong.
“Limpieza y mantenimiento a instalaciones”
The service was good, and the breakfast was ordinary. The bathroom cup was dirty; I didn’t take a photo. Towels had stains that might be clean but the stain gives a feeling of distrust. I understand it might be misuse by the guest, but it could be improved. At 11 AM I had no hot water and the staff didn’t respond. There was a lot of noise around that isn’t the hotel’s fault, which is a point. The door doesn’t close well. Otherwise, it’s very normal.
Everything was flawless except the bed, which was very hard.
“Muy buena opción en Chignaguapan”
The room is small but well laid out, and the bedding is warm for the season. The street noise was loud.
