Being right on the lake was a real plus, but when we arrived the reservation hadn’t been recorded. The Albanian staff were friendly and quickly offered us a much smaller, cheaper room, which we took because we’d gotten up early for a flight and needed a place to crash. It served us for the two nights we stayed, but the mattress was saggy and the sheets looked like they hadn’t been changed in a while.
The hotel sits a good distance from the town centre, which made walking to the main attractions and restaurants a bit of a chore.

Finding this place was a nightmare – there’s not a single sign on the building and the “AZA” letters just send you to another spot a few hundred meters away that also calls itself AZA. I spent over an hour wandering around before a police officer finally helped me and even gave me a lift in her own car.
