How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
The beds were very comfortable, and it was unusual for us that the price included breakfast, which was lovely. We had an evening booked at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, and the hotel was just a 10‑minute drive away, making it very convenient. I would stay here again if we can book for our next concert.

Parking is on site, breakfast is nice, and staff will help when you ask. It’s ideal for groups or if you’re on one of the courses. The hill‑top location offers sea views. The bedroom was better than expected with modern furniture, and it’s easy to access the grass and bin if you have a pet. The downside was staying in the external block of rooms (JRC) and having to walk back to the main building. I didn’t mind eating in the conservatory (okay since I was traveling with a pet), but I couldn’t enter the restaurant to choose my breakfast as a lone traveler. A kind staff member served as my server, and I thanked him. At check‑out, the lady at reception said she could have helped with breakfast or left the dog with her.

Very nice and different, with a couple of good pubs in the village about 5 miles from Scarborough that you can reach by bus. The room lacks a bar or TV.

Cober Hill is a charming, quirky old‑glamour hotel. It was peaceful and our room was lovely, overlooking the main garden and croquet area. Our boys enjoyed the games room and tennis court. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The village location is nice and walkable to the sea. Breakfast was good, and we didn’t have to rush after check‑out time—we lingered in the gardens, played croquet, and then enjoyed cake and scones in one of the lounges. The bedroom furniture could use an update, but after learning about the hotel’s history, its current use, and its ongoing evolution, we understand that upkeep is very costly.
