The location and the owners’ service were very attentive, but I didn’t like being charged the full amount for the stay at the time of booking.

I hit the jackpot with Pousada da Mantiqueira; it’s gorgeous, impeccably maintained, and full of thoughtful details. Room 5, where we stayed, was fantastic—spacious, bright, with a beautiful river view that’s soothing to listen to day and night. It has two amazing balconies, lovely décor, and the cleaning is done daily when you ask. The bed is truly great (I suffer from severe lower back disc hernias and I slept pain‑free thanks to the mattress). The shower is wonderful, and a clever touch is the two shower controls on opposite sides, making it easier to set the water temperature. The place is so quiet it’s a dream for sleeping. The lodge’s location is excellent, close to everything: multiple towns, waterfalls, rivers, shops, restaurants… The owners, Mr. Val and Mrs. Cris, are wonderful people who go out of their way to make your stay perfect (they helped me a lot). Cris bakes delicious, fresh, fluffy cakes in various flavors every day, the homemade breads are superb, and the breakfast is truly excellent, complete, and leaves nothing to be desired. My husband and I spent 7 days during Carnival and already plan to return; the lodge is ideal for relaxing, with a pool, grill, game room, a small but well‑equipped gym, sauna, parking, a safe area, and plenty of spots for beautiful photos. I strongly recommend it. The only thing that could use a tiny improvement is for the cleaning lady to pay a bit more attention to dusting the furniture. Cleaning is daily, but that’s just a small note for even better service.
