Guesthouse "Malena"

I chose this place because it advertised free parking. When I asked where I could leave my car, they gave me an address on a side street that was completely jammed with cars and had no space at all, so I was forced to use a underground garage that cost me 500 CZK. In the end I paid roughly the same as a room with breakfast and a shared bathroom, but the room itself was clean and quiet. Just a heads‑up: the parking information is very misleading unless you already know the neighbourhood.

The welcome was warm and the check‑in went off without a hitch even though I arrived early. The house feels charming and lovingly decorated, and the host was always on hand to answer any questions. It was a pleasant, hassle‑free stay.

The rooms have a somewhat romantic vibe and the whole spot is quiet, with free parking right in front and a kitchen that’s decently equipped. The downside is that the guesthouse only has three rooms on the third floor, all sharing a single bathroom and toilet, which can become a hassle for multiple guests. Hot water stopped flowing in the evening, and the passage between two staircases on the second floor is literally a hole in the wall – a relic of Soviet‑era design that looks unsafe.

The location is right in the centre, which is a big plus. However, the beds creak loudly, the bathroom is shared, and you have to climb up to a “tower” via a very steep, impractical staircase. After a full day of hiking the terrain around the property is demanding, making the stay feel more like a workout than a break.
