The local lunch was a real treat and the whole experience felt special. The hosts welcomed us with incredible hospitality, taking time to point out must-see spots and tailoring suggestions to our kids’ ages. In low season the town of Arenal is pretty quiet, with few tourist sites, no grocery store and a somewhat sparse vibe. Still, for a short getaway it’s a nice change of scenery.

The location is good, the room is clean, tidy and functional. Hosts Werner and Carlos were very attentive and took great care of us.

We stayed three nights at this lovely B&B, which was just the right length: one day at Rio Celeste, another at the Mistico hanging bridges, zip‑lining and hot springs, plus enough time to enjoy the cooler climate and recover from a hectic Costa Rica tour. Nuevo Arenal is a great alternative if you want to avoid the crowds and heat of La Fortuna.

Our first night in Costa Rica was a much‑needed soft landing. The room was spacious, spotless, and every little detail was thought out. Breakfast was excellent, and the view—wow, the view—was breathtaking. The photos don’t capture how magical this place is. If you’re in Nuevo Arenal, this is the spot to stay. Great value for the money.
