The apartment sits right in the heart of the old town, but only two tiny skylights let in no air or light, and the mattress collapsed completely, making for agonizing nights—sleeping on the floor would have been worse. The neighboring unit shares a door so thin it barely holds together, a real safety nightmare for a solo female traveler. Noise from other guests sounded like they were standing in the same room, and in the unit below, parties went on until 4 a.m. on three of the four nights, making sleep impossible. I reported every issue immediately to the agency and the local staff member, who replied, “you’ll probably have to endure that for a night.” Two days later I still had bruises and soreness from the mattress.
“Tutto perfetto!”
The apartment is right in the historic center of Polignano, and we felt truly comfortable there. The area is very quiet and not noisy, both day and night. The apartment is spacious and bright, with a huge terrace overlooking the sea. It has air conditioning, stoves, and a fridge. I strongly recommend using the host’s paid garage for parking, as free spots are hard to find.
The location is great, but there are too many stairs, none of which were mentioned in the ad. The beds aren’t comfortable, and the layout of the house is illogical. My mother, who was less mobile, could barely get in or out.
The place was very well positioned, faithful to the photos, and very clean with a small balcony, but the proximity to the other rented unit was far too noisy—quite a pity.
Communication and access were easy, the location is great. Having plates, cutlery, glasses and a bottle opener would be very useful.
